Diagnosing Hydro-Mechanical Effects in Subsurface Fluid Flow Through Fractures

چکیده
Abstract Hydro-mechanically induced transient changes in fracture volume elude an analysis of pressure and flow rate transients by conventional diffusion-based models. We used a previously developed fully coupled, inherently non-linear numerical simulation model to demonstrate that harmonic hydraulic excitation fractures leads systematic overtones the response spectrum can thus be as diagnostic criterion for hydro-mechanical interaction. The examination spectra, obtained from testing at four different field sites, occurrence confirmed their potential characterization tested reservoirs. A non-dimensional identified relative aperture change critical system parameter.

Fluid Flow Modeling in Fractures
In this paper we study fluid flow in fractures using numerical simulation and address the challenging issue of hydraulic property characterization in fractures. The methodology is based on Computational Fluid Dynamics, using a finite-volume based discretization scheme. Steady-state, viscous, laminar flow simulations for a Newtonian fluid are carried out in both 2D and 3D fracture models. In 2D,...
متن کاملMathematical modelling of Sisko fluid flow through a stenosed artery
In the present study, the nonlinear model of non-Newtonian blood flow in cosine-shape stenosed elastic artery is numerically examined. The model is carried out for axisymmetric, two-dimensional and fully developed blood flow. The vessel wall is assumed to be have time-dependent radius that is important factor for study of blood flow. The cosine-shape stenosis convert to rigid artery by using a ...
متن کاملMHD Casson fluid flow through a vertical plate
In this study, effects of numerous physical quantities like dissipation, thermal radiation, and induced magnetic field on magnetohydrodynamic Casson fluid flow through a vertical plate is addressed. The non-dimensional multivariable governing equations are solved numerically by by means of Runge-Kutta method along with shooting technique. The behavior of velocity, temperature and induced magnet...

متن کاملTurbulent Effects on Fluid Flow through Disordered Porous Media
The influence of turbulent effects on a fluid flow through a (pseudo) porous media is studied by numerically solving the set of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the κ-ǫ model for turbulence. The spatial domains are two-dimensional rectangular grids with different porosities obtained by the random placing of rigid obstacles. The objective of the simulations is to access the behavio...
